West U's tree-lined blocks sit just west of Rice University and the Texas Medical Center. We help the Neighborhood City keep pests out of its homes and businesses.
West University Place took its name from its neighbor, the Rice Institute, now Rice University. Ben Hooper began selling lots here in 1917, the city incorporated in 1924, and many of its streets carry the names of famous authors. Today the Neighborhood City is a compact residential city bordered by Kirby Drive and surrounded by Houston, Bellaire and Southside Place, with Colonial Park and other small parks close to home. O'Connor Pest Control serves West U from our home base in Huntsville.
Michael O'Connor founded our company in Houston in 1990, and he and Lacy still own and run it. Most of our work is commercial, including the medical offices tied to the nearby Texas Medical Center, restaurants and shops along Kirby Drive and in Rice Village, and the office buildings around them. Commercial clients get a response within 24 hours, a free inspection and a monthly or quarterly program.
Many of West U's original bungalows have been replaced with larger homes, and that construction pushes rodents, ants and termites toward neighboring houses. Tall trees give roof rats a path to the attic, heavy rain and runoff toward Brays Bayou bring roaches and mosquitoes, and Formosan termites are established in the Houston area. Homeowners never need a contract. Call Michael at 281-374-6902 for a free inspection.
